Proverbs 4:25 -27

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

Do Not Swerve

Daniel Castor

Have you ever noticed that men have a hard time asking for directions. I hate to admit it but I am this way myself whether I am on a road trip, assembling a piece of furniture, or looking for something in the hardware store, I have a hard time taking directions from someone else. I would like to think that I can handle things on my own. I know my way around this hardware store or I know how to get where I’m going! But it is a shot to my pride when I realize that I am completely lost and need to ask for help. The truth is that I could use some direction in my life.  In our verses for today Solomon gives us wise counsel and good direction. It almost seems as if he knows that we might be prone to go our own way. Listen to what he says.

Proverbs 4:25 -27

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

Watch where you are going and don’t swerve to the right or to the left.

The path of life is narrow and those who stray from it find death

So Throw off that which weighs you down and turn your foot from sin

One foot in front of the other headed towards a glorious end
My friend Paul told me that it helps if you think of life like a race

He says to fix your eyes on the prize run hard after Christ and never relax your pace
