Proverbs in 365 Devotions
"Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. Proverbs 3:25-26
by Daniel Castor
We live in a world filled with fearful people. I mean have you even looked at the most resent list of Phobias and fears that people face everyday.
Arithmophobia - fear of numbers
Microphobia - fear of small things
Venustraphobia - Fear of beautiful women
Coulrophobia-fear of clowns
Ephebiphobia - fear of teenagers
Phopophobia - fear of phobias
And last but not least there is
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - the fear of long words.
These are just a few silly examples but you get the idea. We live in a world of worry and fear. Many people spend there day worried about the things that will come their way. But for God’s people things are a little different.
God’s people are told to fear not over 100 times in the Bible. Because our confidence is fixed on something much bigger than all our fears and worries. Our confidence is in God. If you are ever feeling anxious or fearful, take a long hard look at God. The more clearly we see him for who he is the more insignificant our fears become.
