Increasing Riches In Christ
Get rich schemes have made many a person excessively rich beyond their wildest imaginations; however their newly acquired wealth have frequently been followed with bankruptcy, divorce and or long prison sentences… even murder.
And it’s not just with get rich schemes but this same principal of "Instant Everything" applies across the board.
For example: a starvation type diet without daily lifestyle changes usually comes back along with compounded interest.
If you've ever considered politics, you know quick fixes don't solve the long term problems; i.e. the National Debt; need I say more?
Even in churches, rapidly growing congregations can sometimes implode from within because they settled back into the same old self centered mindsets that had always kept them from their mission attentiveness before. Their gain numbers quickly schemes wound up breaking them.
As for a spiritual application; the Bible teaches us that salvation is not a box that we check off and then go on about our old life, seeking our same old delights. Our desire has completely changed. We don’t taste and savor the awesomeness of Jesus and then go back to our old eating lifestyle of the worlds junk food.
Psalm 63:5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
Some people are out for a quick fix with salvation but salvation is not a fix, it’s a change. Our life style changes because why? because we are a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Listen to how the Psalmist describes their new way of life. It’s not a one time thing that allows us to return to finding our worship in the things of the world.
Psalm 119:164 Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous rules.
Psalms 105:4 Search for the LORD and for his strength; continually seek him.
Psalm 16:8 I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Though instantaneous, salvation is not a quick fix it is a work in progress. We are made righteous with Christ righteousness immediately but practically is is always working on us.
Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
And so as we first turned back from the path of sin and now follow Jesus, every day when our heart has failures we take up our cross to die to that old lifestyle over and over as we grow in Christ.
In Luke 9:23 Jesus talks about it being a daily thing: And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Father as this text today speaks of wealth and says that whoever gathers little by little will increase it. We trust you are doing what you said you would do in our life.
