Not a hair of your head
Have you ever lost a strand of hair off your head?
It is estimated that men and women loose between 50 and 100 hairs daily. Since most people have around 100,000 that seems quite insignificant. Nevertheless, loosing a few hairs can hardly be compared to any trouble or trial we might encounter, much less life itself.
As for me, I go with the bald look. However spiritually speaking in the eyes of the Lord, I suspect my hair is like it was when I was younger; that is full and quite curly... and God cares about my hair; every single strand!
Jesus has a great love for his children; he knows our physical earthly body cannot be compared to the incorruptible spiritual one he will give us. We will bask in his glory for eternity. He has said how all the promises of God are yea and how all things are ours. He will not allow any harm to come to his own.
In Luke 21 Jesus gives us many promises that are sure to come. Some are physical promises like how there will be wars, earthquakes, pestilence, famines, signs in heaven, men's hearts will be filled with terror, there will be persecution for believers, committing us to prison. But also there are Spiritual promises in how he will quicken our heart for his glory. He says how he will give us opportunity, wisdom, and words to bear witness to him … then he says…
16 You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death. 17 You will be hated by all for my name’s sake. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance you will gain your lives.
These impending troubles will show the world that satan's promises are futile. There is no paradise or utopia in a world broken by sin.
But for you… If you have seen the beauty of Jesus; then, empowered and carried by the Holy Spirit, no matter the difficulty of the path you tread, God will get all the glory as you press on to the end… and as he works, by your endurance you will gain your lives… not even a hair of your head will perish.
