The Tongue,
A Long Slimy Sword
Robin Aylor
Proverbs 12:18 There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
The tongue is a fire, a long slimy sword
It curses its neighbor and praises The Lord.
How can knowledge make this sword yield?
It can act as an armor, a buckler and shield.
It transforms to a weapon no one can defeat
With matrix reflexes of rapid repeat
The word of the Lord is the sword of the spirit
Dividing and piercing the souls that will hear it
What's in the stomach exits the bowels
Issues of the heart extrude from the mouth
When Gods Word is in us it springs out the lips
Empowers the hands, the legs and the hips
Jesus had knowledge when tempted and tried
He deflected the falsehood of satan who lied
Then thrusting out “...it is written” “...worship the Lord…"
His Logos delivered, a powerful sword
So Gods Sword is a weapon undaunted by sin
As well as a safeguard protector of men
Jesus is an example for you and for me
His Word keeps us from danger and brings victory
James 3:4 Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. 5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life,a and set on fire by hell.b 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
