God’s On Mission

Let’s Go Fishing!

Leland Castor May 2019

Matthew 4:18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

And tethered to Jesus' last words spoken in the book of John... again to Peter:
John 21:22 You follow me!”

Let’s Go Fishing!

I love the outdoors, and fishing would definitely be one of my favorite things to do.

One thing I don’t understand about fishing is their feeding habits. Every now and then I will have a good day of fishing, but it seems like most of the time I’m either a day early or 30 minutes too late. Still… when given the opportunity I’m ready to go!!!

I guess maybe that’s the reason Jesus chose experienced fishermen for some of his disciples. They would need to stay with it on both the good and bad days.

Even though they struggled with understanding God’s plan (His plan of Salvation)…  Jesus continued to reveal himself to them and his purpose for coming into the world along with the Cross and his resurrection and how he would complete God’s plan to save sinful man.

But the job is not finished because he has chosen to use our lives as a living testimony to the lost around us with his power to change a life…

God’s on mission, let’s go fishing!
