Don't Burn the Cookies

Luke 10:40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

When my children were home, I loved to make chocolate chip cookies! The children sometimes would take bites of the uncooked dough and want to lick the bowl. I always doubled the recipe, and so I baked several pans. It seemed I often burned them. I would get too busy with other things. There is always a lesson in everything we do.

My time visiting with Jesus is when I study scripture and also the times of Prayer. Being too busy can rob me of my peace and joy in Christ. When busyness distracts me other things can replace my affections in Christ and I begin to become burned out and my relationship with Christ suffers.

My time with others as a witness and encourager also blackens miserably when my mind is on things of this world.

When Christ is the Lord of your life... Please don't burn the Cookies.
