A Significant Life Blake Farley

For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do. -Ephesians 2:8-10 (CSB)

Have you ever seen someone and thought "Wow, God is really using them!" Maybe it's your favorite pastor, Billy Graham, or some missionary you know. We have a tendency to think that God has those people specially made for impact and the rest of us, well we are just normal or ordinary. I have certainly found myself many times believing that lie from the pit of Hell.

The second chapter of Ephesians tells a much different story, "For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do."

Most of us have no problem with verse 8, we were saved not by our own works, but by the work of Christ. However, what about verse 9? How does it feel to know you are His workmanship with specific works planned for you? Believe it or not, the same Holy Spirit working through your favorite pastor, Billy Graham, and that missionary you know resides within you!

I love the following quote by Dallas Willard, "We were built to count, as water is made to run downhill. We are placed in a specific context to count in ways no one else does. That is our destiny."

Out of all the people in the past, present, and future God only made one of you. He wants to use your unique skills, history, and context to impact the world for His glory. You were meant for a life of significance.
