A Promise to Finish
What He Started
Do you have a hard time finishing what you have started? Half way done do it yourself projects around the house, numerous books laying around that we have started but couldn’t quite finish?... Some of us may not even make it all the way through this short devotion before our minds get distracted and move on to other things. We are often half-hearted creatures who have a hard time focusing on what needs to be done. Thankfully our God is not like this!!!!
Consider this fantastic statement. The God of the Bible will accomplish all that he sets out to do!!!!
We see this all through out scripture.
We see it in the garden, when sinful man rebelled. God had given man the whole world but sinful pride crept in and said that wasn’t enough. Man turned their back on God in an effort to become their own God and at that moment all of God‘s beautiful creation was broken.
What did God do? How did he respond? Did he just throw in the towel? No! He had a plan to set things right, to finish what he started. He himself would come down and clean up this mess to set things back to the way they were supposed to be.
Fast forward to the flood where we see in the entire world of wickedness doing only evil all the time. God’s grace had run out he was going to wipe sinful man from the face of the earth. God had given these men their breath in their life and he had the right to take it away. God will wipe out everything on the face the earth, but even still he preserved a remanent some of every kind of animal and eight people that were saved from the waters of the flood.
Go a little farther in scripture and consider the people of Israel. Time and time and time and time again they turn away from God they pursue idols and lust and other kings and all sorts of things. But does God give up on them? Does he Forget about his people? No not at all he continually and faithfully pursues them and hold fast to promises.
Our God finishes what he started!!!
Here is the good news if you are in Christ God will do the same for you.
Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
